Valerie White, Ph.D., won the Center for Disability Access & Resources (CeDAR)’s 2021 CeDAR Honors Pacesetter Award. The Award recognizes a FAMU faculty member who displays exceptional ability to accommodate students with disabilities.
White is a School of Journalism and Graphic Communication (SJGC) associate professor. She utilizes methods of instruction that are considerate of the needs of students with disabilities, provides academic and professional support for students with disabilities, and works to ensure that academic adjustments are implemented.
The student favorite has been with the SJGC for more than 20 years. According to White, she constantly revamps her teaching strategies to encourage students to learn, but also holds them accountable for their achievement.”
In addition to teaching, White has previously held various media positions, including but not limited to public relations practitioner, news producer, and magazine editor.
