The third installment of “Tea With McGhee”, an Instagram livestream hosted by Associate Dean of the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication (SJGC) Felicia McGhee, took place on January 16th, 2024.

McGhee was also accompanied by SJGC seniors Cayla Goff and Alexis Dumerjean.

Both Goff and Dumerjean proved to be important to the discussion as they brought their own insight and advice.

Goff is a senior Broadcast Journalism student who currently serves as the Assistant Opinions Editor for The Famuan, Producer and Technical Director for FAMU TV-20 and a Radio Personality for WANM 90.5 The Flava Station.

Dumerjean is also a transfer-senior Broadcast Journalism student. She currently serves as a Multimedia Journalist for FAMU TV-20 and is an active member of the FAMU Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Before diving into the main discussion, McGhee addressed student advising concerns, emphasizing her availability for those still navigating class adjustments. She assured students that any advising problems could be resolved by reaching out to her directly.

The core of the livestream focused on practical advice for students, with discussions ranging from utilizing Flex Bucks on campus to applying for food stamps and scholarships.

“It’s important for students to know that resources like Flex Bucks and scholarship opportunities are there to help ease the financial burden. We’re all navigating this journey together, and these strategies can make a significant difference in managing our finances as students.” Dumerjean shared.

The trio of hosts also delved into essential topics such as money management and credit cards, providing valuable insights for students navigating the complexities of financial responsibilities.

Tea With McGhee continues to serve as a platform where students can engage with the Associate Dean in a candid and informative manner.

By addressing pertinent issues like financial literacy, the livestream not only fosters a sense of community within SJGC but also equips students with practical knowledge to help guide their academic journey.
