Victoria Montanez, a junior Broadcast Journalism student hailing from Tampa, Florida, has been honored with the prestigious National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) scholarship.
Montanez expressed her gratitude, stating, “It’s an incredible feeling to be recognized for my passion for journalism. This scholarship truly validates the countless hours of hard work and dedication I’ve poured into my craft.”
As a transfer student from Hillsborough Community College and a proud first-generation college student, Victoria stands out among her peers. Her active involvement in SJGC is evident through her roles as the Weather and Entertainment Anchor for FAMU TV-20 during the Fall 2023 semester and as a co-host for the Saturday Morning Show on WANM 90.5 The Flava Station. She is also an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).
Montanez’s achievement highlights not only her individual success but also the caliber of students produced by the School of Journalism and Communication (SJGC) at Florida A&M University.
