FAMU SJGC Alumna Giselle Thomas recently won a Daytime Emmy Award. She was a part of the talented team at CBS This Morning/ CBS Mornings in New York. The show won an Emmy in late 2022 at the 43rd Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards for Outstanding News Program 2021-2022.
Giselle is credited as an Associate Producer, as she worked for CBS Mornings from 2018 through 2021. She worked overnight shifts, enabling her to work in the control room that led to her joining an anchor team where she was on current CBS Mornings Anchor Tony Dokoupil’s editorial/producing team. The award for Outstanding News Program is achieved in a group collaborative effort and involves those in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
During Giselle’s time at FAMU SJGC she served as an anchor and reporter for FAMU TV20 and online Paradigm News Program.
“I am truly thankful for the knowledge and tools I gained from FAMU SJGC. It is an honor to share this achievement with my alma mater,” the 2018 SJGC Broadcast Journalism graduate said.
Currently Giselle Thomas is currently a reporter in Gainesville, FL for CBS4 News/ WGFL.
