Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) hosted a health fair and podcast on April 15th. The health fair took place in the Grand Ballroom from 12-2. Both the health fair and podcast were held in honor of April being National Donate Life Month.

“PRSSA wanted the events to be an opportunity to bring awareness to organ donation while also addressing the misgivings many communities may have about organ donation,” said PRSSA President Toni Christopher.

Donate Life Florida and the Department of Allied Health were vendors for the fair. Donate Life Florida raised awareness for their organization and National Donate Life Month. The Department of Allied Health performed a CPR demonstration. They also encouraged students to explore the CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification opportunities available through the university.

Donate Life Florida representatives Kim Gilmore and Betty Morales joined PRSSA members Iyanna Peoples and Lebaron Fields for the very first podcast episode of A Conversation with PRSSA. Gilmore is the Public Education Coordinator for Donate Life Florida and Morales is a Donate Life Florida ambassador. The Donate Life Florida representatives highlighted the benefits of organ donation with Morales citing her own personal experience with organ donation. Gilmore encouraged people to register as organ donors, emphasizing that Donate Life means giving those in need a second chance at a better quality of life.

“When we say Donate Life we’re really talking about the quality of life,” said Gilmore.
