FAMU SJGC’s Graphic Communication Division director, Professor Anosh Gill, brings more than 30 years of global advertising experience, including more than 100 graphic design awards and recognition as a Fulbright Scholar.

His expertise was on full display this spring as he served as a leading voice in the international dialogue on typography, branding and web‑related media art at the Southeast Conference on Education and the inaugural Southeast Asian Conference on Arts and Humanities in Singapore. The conference welcomed 341 delegates from 51 countries, representing 227 institutions and organizations worldwide.

The joint conferences examined “the intersection of digital technology, AI and cultural preservation” and are among the premier events that convene scholars, researchers, and practitioners from around the world to explore issues in the arts, culture, history, language, and the humanities.

Drawing on his expertise in creative and art direction, branding, communication strategy, and graphic design education, Gill collaborated with SJGC alumna Kia Dolby, a digital communication professor at the renowned Savannah College of Art and Design, for a special presentation on visual harmony, cultural sensitivity, and the communicative power of typography.

In a full-circle moment, FAMU SJGC alumna Kia Dolby co-presented with Professor Gill in Singapore.

Their talk, titled “Integrating Diverse Language Scripts Through a Unified Typographic Framework for Global Branding,” presented insights from their research and professional experiences and introduced a framework for exploring the intersection of language, design, cross‑cultural engagement, and aesthetic innovation in a multilingual, globally connected world.

Gill also served as chair of the session “Cyber‑Shanzhai: Aesthetics and Web‑Related Media Art Practice,” presented by Lang Tu, a visual artist and designer at the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University.

The session examined the digital transformation of Shanzhai culture through an interpretive framework for web‑related media art. It contributed to a deeper understanding of digital evolution and its relevance to contemporary art practice.
