NBCU Academy Grants

The Comcast Corporation and NBCUniversal News Group have awarded the FAMU School of Journalism and Graphic Communication (SJGC) a grant to support our goal of educating future journalists and content creators, and advancing diversity and equity in media. Grantee students will possess a track record of (i) academic achievement, (ii) working in support of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion, and (iii) creating content reflective of diverse communities that provide insight into contemporary challenges. A specific goal of this grant is to assist enrolled students who are experiencing financial hardships. These funds may be used to help mitigate these hardships upon a student’s request. Funds may also be used to support professional development and academic opportunities for students.

Processing the request includes completing this form. Once submitted and reviewed, you will be contacted via your provided FAMU email with the decision. All awards are for one term only. For consideration for additional assistance for the next term or year, you will need to submit this form each time.  Please ensure that your FAFSA application is current. Note: any SJGC student is eligible for this grant regardless of your financial status.

Should you have any questions and/or concerns regarding your request, please contact us at sjgc@famu.edu, (850) 599 – 3379, 4003 SJGC.
