FSNE Florida Emerging Journalists Fund at FAMU


The Florida Society of News Editors (FSNE) is starting the Florida Emerging Journalists Fund at FAMU SJGC. The purpose of the fund is to strengthen the pipeline of diverse journalists in Florida newsrooms. FSNE will fund two $2,000 scholarships a year for a minimum of four years.

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated and selected on the following criteria:

  • Florida residents who demonstrate a commitment to journalism, preferably in Florida newsrooms upon graduation.
  • Rising junior or senior in good academic standing, preferably pursuing degrees in journalism, communications or a closely related field.
  • Applicants must submit a resume, an essay explaining their commitment to journalism, preferably in Florida (maximum of 500 words), and three examples of published work.
