FAMU’s School of Journalism & Graphic Communication public relations major is rated one of the six best PR programs at a historically black college and university by Best Colleges.
Best Colleges, is a higher education resource that “empowers students to make smarter educational decisions and find schools that best fit their needs through proprietary research, user-friendly guides, and hundreds of unique college rankings.” The site uses statistics, datasets from Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and College Navigator, both of which are hosted by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) to create their rankings.
“Our PR program is built on the caring FAMU culture, focusing on the integration of strategic communication, IMC planning, writing, social justice, and research to provide our students with comprehensive and up to date knowledge and skill sets in PR and marketing fields,” said SJGC public relations professor Dr. Hsuan Huang.
FAMU SJGC is ranked number one in the lineup, as Howard University, Hampton University, Oakwood University, Florida Memorial University, and Mississippi Valley State University round out spots two through six, respectively.
The Edvocate, an education policy blog, also rated SJGC as one of the best HBCUs for journalism.
