TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Students from Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (FAMU SJGC) are gaining national attention for their new documentary, “Bullet,” which highlights the life and legacy of legendary Rattler “Bullet” Bob Hayes.

The student-produced short film explores a new perspective on the story of Hayes, once dubbed the “world’s fastest human” in 1964 and the only person in U.S. history to win both an Olympic gold medal and a Super Bowl championship. The production was named as one of this year’s six national finalists for the Coca-Cola HBCU Sports Production Grant, awarded by the Foundation of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The winner will be announced on May 20 during the Sports Emmy Awards ceremony.

“The judges were impressed by the outstanding quality of the submissions, which demonstrated the talent and dedication needed to pursue a career in the sport broadcasting and production industry,” said the Foundation in announcing the finalists.
