The Future Communicators Foundation (FCF) in collaboration with the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC) at Florida A&M University (FAMU) proudly announces Jada Stephens as the recipient of the 2024 FINN Partners Future Communicators Foundation Scholarship in Public Relations at FAMU. This prestigious award is presented in partnership with one of the world’s largest independent communications agencies and recognizes the exceptional talent and leadership among students aspiring to careers as public relations practitioners.
‘ “FINN Partners extends a warm welcome to Jada Stephens as part of our 2025 FINN Scholars cohort of brilliant and promising college students from across the nation,” ’ said Helen C. Shelton, global chief diversity officer, FINN Partners. ‘ “It is an honor to further expand our partnership with Florida A&M University, and we thank our long-term collaborative partners, the Future Communicators Foundation, for their commitment to elevating and empowering young leaders through education.” ’
Each year, the FINN Partners FCF Scholarship competition is centered around a specific theme designed to encourage students to develop innovative public relations campaigns that promote sustainability. This year, entrants were directed to develop campaigns to advocate for natural habitats while simultaneously promoting responsible, environmentally sound tourism.
Stephens, a junior from Titusville, Florida, majoring in public relations, was selected for her academic achievements, creativity and dedication to advancing the field of public relations. Her winning submission, the “Waves of Change” campaign completely addressed the directives of the scholarship competition. Her strategy included educating the public about the importance of protecting Florida’s coastal ecosystems and she incorporated tactics designed to involve local businesses to support beach waste reduction efforts, while encouraging beach visitors to “leave only footprints.”
“Working on the Waves of Change campaign gave me a deeper understanding of the urgent need to protect Florida’s coastal ecosystems…,” said Stephens. “The FINN Partners FCF scholarship not only fuels my passion for environmental advocacy, but it also provides the financial support… to continue developing my skills in sustainable communication.
In addition to financial support, the award will also provide access to career development opportunities and mentorship from FINN Partners professionals.
“Jada Stephens has consistently demonstrated the drive, innovation and leadership qualities that set our students apart,” said Hsuan Huang, Ph.D., SJGC associate professor. “This award will serve as a catalyst for her continued growth and success in the communications industry.”
The FINN Partners FCF Scholarship helps cultivate the next generation of public relations practitioners. Recipients gain access to a global network of industry experts who provide invaluable mentorship and career guidance.
“This opportunity will enable me to continue striving for excellence academically and professionally,” said Stephens. “I am eager to learn from the leaders at FINN Partners and apply their advice to make a positive impact in the field.”
