FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will launch its $2,500 “PRSSA Protects Paradise” Scholarship Competition with global PR agency Finn Partners on Oct. 8. The scholarship offers students a unique opportunity to combine their passion for public relations with environmental advocacy, focusing on the conservation of Florida’s beach communities.

To kick off the competition, FAMU PRSSA will host a virtual workshop on Tuesday, Oct.8, at 6 p.m., led by PRSSA Co-Presidents Alise Sloan and Jarvis Coleman. During the workshop, they will provide an overview of the competition requirements, share tips for success, and showcase examples to inspire participants. Students will have the chance to ask questions and learn how to create an innovative public relations campaign focusing on environmental conservation and sustainability.

This year’s competition theme, “PRSSA Protects Paradise,” challenges students to develop strategic campaigns highlighting environmental issues facing Florida. It encourages students to tackle critical problems like coral reef conservation, Everglades preservation, and coastal erosion.

“This is our second year collaborating with the Finn Partners to provide students in public relations an opportunity to hone their strategic planning skills and earn a handsome stipend,” said  Hsuan Huang, Ph.D., FAMU PRSSA advisor.
