For two years, Beraiah Baker missed @famusjgc82 Grads are Back, @famu_1887homecomings and her Pompano Beach, Fla. family and friends while breaking barriers and achieving unparalleled success as a TV journalist/anchor in Fort Smith, Ark. With a new job as a corporate marketing executive based in south Florida, Beraiah came back to the Hill to connect with her SJGC family. Beraiah dazzled students with real talk about the news industry, “pushing through life,” and how to overcome society’s prejudices. “Stay encouraged and keep going. Be solution-oriented and don’t complain.” She offered words of advice to one of Dr. Kimbrough’s classes, the anchors and producers of TV-20, and even found time to stop and take a photo with her mentor Prof. Kenneth Jones.
